Trying not to make a sound. My heart skipped. I stepped closer. Slow. Careful. Like he might hear me. Like it mattered. Like I could change anything. His hands were shaking. Small. Covered in ash. His eyes— They lifted slowly. And met mine. I froze. My breath caught. Because even through the dirt. Even through the fear. Even through the years between then and now..I knew him. I knew those eyes. Dark. Sharp. Watching. Not crying. Not screaming.

My eyes became weak and slowly shut. The last words I could think of were: “I’m doomed…”

A whoosh of air, a sudden release that hauls him back and pushes me away, so I’m dropped on my a** in the dirt, blinking stupendously. It’s all a whir of mere seconds, as though I’m in slow motion and the world is speeding around me. My vision is blurry with tears, and my left eye is burning so bad it’s streaming. I didn't know who the person was who was staring back at me anymore. Leaning closer to the mirror, I begged for something. Some sign or vision or something that might help me find my way out of this. I focused on my own eyes and soon enough, the familiar sensation started to wash over me. That falling feeling. It was becoming easier to give in to it now, to let it take over. I didn’t fight it. I prayed that this time it might help me. Maybe it could show me something I had missed or something that would help me escape this hell. Something... Anything.

I can't stop....I feel my body start to slow down....the van was out of sight, I try to keep moving but I end up falling down, I hear a loud ringing in my ear, my vision starts to blur I see people gather me but I couldn'

I was in pain and the tears that were gushing down my eyes were not helping at all. Then lowering my head, I resumed walking but I was just able to take a few steps as my feet were feeling weak and heavy to lift. Standing still for a while, I fell on my knees and my vision was getting blurry. Soon, I collapsed on the ground and before my eyes were forced to shut, I saw someone walking towards me.

My eyes blink furiously, fighting the darkness threatening to take over. I stiffly turn to Drake’s form, each step agonizingly slow and staggered. One, two, three- my eyes register his face. His gaze looking up at me. He blinks. Relief, stronger than I’ve ever felt, washes over me. Hope soars in my chest - and the next thing I know I’m falling.

My vision blurs, and I Stagger before falling ungracefully to the floor. I blink, trying to stay awake, but I couldn't help it. Black seeps into my vision, and I fall unconscious.
