My blood ran cold when he stroked one of the nude women’s hair by his side, before his iron claws pierced into her temple. The woman’s eyes went wide, rolling back into her head as I struggled to keep my face devoid of expression. What the actual fuck? Kiernan Bones was a sick bastard, there was no doubt about it. I watched one of his footguards rush forward with a goblet, collecting the bright red blood and brain matter that shot from both sides of her pierced head like a fountain.

Hoping to buy himself a little more time, he grabbed one of the thicker books—Bag of Bones—and hurled it toward the stairs just as the panther came into the library. Time stretched out like taffy, and as the book sailed across the room, the panther seemed to shrink before his eyes. With dawning horror, Brad realized there had never been a panther, it was only Phantom. He cried out even as the book landed on top of the cat. Phantom let out a nails-on-chalkboard cry, pinned beneath the heavy brick of a volume. Brad hurried back to the stairs, casting the book aside. Phantom seemed daze, mewling and curling up on itself like a pill bug.

Just violence in raw form. "Nah," I mutter. "That's your department. I just blew his fucking skull apart." I shudder at the memory—King peeling Isaac like he was scaling a trout. Yeah. I left Bones looking messy. But King? He would've made it look like art. The kind that you can never unsee. But yeah—Bones deserved that. Maybe even more than Isaac. Because if he'd succeeded? He would've raped her. Or sold her. Or both.

"You're just perfect for us. Our fucking Luna and slut."
