"The deep water is quiet, Jace," Elias said, his voice dropping to a low, reverent rumble. "The Leviathans are retreating into the trenches. The Crawlers have dispersed. The tide is broken."
"For now," I rasped, leaning heavily against the side of the Bell to keep myself standing. "The Sovereign of the Deep is shattered, but the Mariana is vast. They will elect a new king eventually."
Elias looked at me, a fierce, predatory pride in his eyes.
