He was grotesque and all of them, Bodie, Manila, Van, and Luna, standing from the entrance door, felt their feet struck frozen to the ground. They witnessed a demon right before their eyes. "And who in hell are you?!" He said, his almost skin-less eyes bulging out of his skull from fury.

“That was the lie we fed the wolves so they would deliver you to me broken and ripe. The real ritual requires the daughter to lie with the father under the red moon, to birth the Devouring God from incest and betrayal.” His thumb stroked my pulse. “You have done the hard part. You murdered mercy. You devoured your twin. You drank the Lycan King’s dying power. Now all that remains is the final sacrament.” He leaned in until his lips brushed mine. “Say yes, my moon. Say yes, and we will unmake the sun.” I felt the child inside me stretch toward him like a flower toward darkness. For one heartbeat, I wavered. I saw it: the world remade in our image.

Then it was gone. Consumed. Erased so completely that even the memory of it felt thin.

As soon as they were out of sight, Fernando rushed to Axel and grabbed him by the collar. “You son of a bitch!” Axel’s men wanted to make a move but he raised his hand, stopping them. He didn’t try to fight Fernando or take his hands off his collar. “You are manipulating her. You and your father are the real devils and she’s not supposed to be around you because you will only end up delaying her from getting her right…”

Did you think you’d get to finish your little vendetta before the net dropped?” From somewhere outside, faint but growing clearer, came the wail of police sirens—dozens of them. The trap was closing. Ferdinand only chuckled softly. “You mistake me, Benedict. I never came here to kill you. Death is too neat. Too final. I came to give you the only ending you deserve.”

Designed to sever bonds. To harvest selectively. To test limits."

"Defenses down. Proceed with caution." As we neared the inner sanctum, Alexander emerged. "You fools," he sneered. "The Devourer will consume everything." Ruth charged forward, her sword flashing. I covered her, taking down guards left and right. Alexander retreated, the Devourer's energy swirling around him. "We have to end this," Ruth shouted. Together, we launched a final assault. Alexander fell, the Devourer's energy surging out of control. "Get out!" Echo yelled. "The stronghold is collapsing!"
