I saw our car as a blue dot on the map. ​"Marcus, at the next intersection, turn right. Do not stop for the light." ​"The light is red, Elara." ​"It won't be." ​I swiped my finger across the screen, forcing a Priority Green for our lane and a Solid Red for every other direction. As we tore through the intersection, I timed the reset. The moment our bumper cleared the line, the cross-traffic turned green. A massive semi-truck roared into the intersection, T-boning the second SUV with a sickening crunch of metal.

Luminous numbers on the LED display underneath turned red as well and started counting down the seconds remaining before pedestrians were allowed to cross the street.
