She shrugged, a little awkwardly. I smiled back, wanting to put her at ease. “Thank you, Sie. I really appreciate it.” We flicked through some new books and papers while we waited for the pizza to arrive. They were all much the same – long, winding documentation of vampire sightings from the Victorian era, many of which were clearly allegories for something else, like impudent women or the fear of industrialisation.

Here's your breakfast, eat up before they get cold" she said happily, thank you we all said, just then she was about to open the windows, I vamp sped towards her and held her hands "How did you do that she asked surprised" I was about to compel her but I asked myself "what's the need of compelling her? I told her the truth about us being vampires of centuries from Transylvania "Wow, are you really serious, I have been doing research on them but all my efforts were in vein, you are allergic to sunlight and garlic bulbs right and mostly feed on human blood and can't resist feeding on them right, I hope you don't feast on us" she said giggling

Despite the strangeness of the situation, Melia found herself finding his astonishment rather amusing. "Vampire..." he murmured, his gaze shifting towards Melia. "Perfect!" he exclaimed, throwing his arms up in a rare moment of elation. "It explains everything. It explains why you're still here, alive. Why... Or maybe... How do you become a vampire?" he asked abruptly, his curiosity getting the best of him. Melia arched an eyebrow and crossed her arms. "I'm not going to tell you that," she replied firmly, her voice as cool as a winter breeze.

It wasn’t clear to me why I felt a twinge of guilt, just seeing it. “Chasing down the Vampire. Stopping the reign of blood.” She read, pointing to the title, and subtitle. “Oh. What’s it about?” I asked, a little awkwardly. “It’s a vampire who suddenly went crazy after tasting blood for the first time.” She replied, and I scoffed. “You’ve got to be kidding me.” I said, snatching the book from her hands.

I ask flipping through the pages. “Well if you go back to the start of the story it’s him turning the four of his best soldiers into Vampires, so I guess it means they are the first bloodline and are sired to him.” She explains and shows me the page. “Ok but what does sired to him mean exactly.” I ask so full of questions than I had before all of this.

They were weak and needed food. "Hello, everyone. I'm Gavin Kyle. The first vampire on the soil of Wisconsin after about twelve centuries ago," I started my first speech after they had eaten. Although some of them looked reluctant, interested, and afraid, their spirit personalities are what compelled them to stay. A force they could not control.

Looked at each of us. "Let me tell you a story. About how the world used to be. About what Chimeras were before the Purge. About why they're extinct. And about the vampire king who's been searching two thousand years for a way to bring back the dead." She took a breath. "This is the story of Varic the Conqueror. The Chimera Purge. He stood over me, all raw power and dangerous. I whimpered when I bumped my arm, and he knelt closer to me. He was on all fours, hovering over me. My bones were quickly healing, and I was ready to shove him away. His face was an inch away from mine now, fangs out and hissing. I didn’t know what to do. I had never seen a vampire like this before. He lowered his head and scented my neck. I trembled with fear and anticipation for what I didn’t know.

When I returned home, my entire body collapsed with exhaustion, as if my soul had been drained from me. I sank onto the sofa, one hand resting on my abdomen, silent tears streaming down my face. Lowering my gaze, I looked at the twin blood sigils glowing within the detection crystal and could only think how cruel fate could be. We had been bound for so long. I had wanted to give him a child. But vampires cannot conceive naturally. To force conception through witchcraft meant enduring excruciating pain and an unbearably long process. Dominic Costa had always said it didn’t matter whether we had children—that even without them, he would give me all his love.

“It’s okay. But I know you won’t use such language around our daughter.” She nodded. “No. Of course not.” It was funny that I had thought she was prim and proper and wondered how relaxed she would be. But come to find out, I was the one who was more of a prude. Go figure. “Please, continue.” “Of course.” She smiled sheepishly, reminding me a little of Princess Diana, but with long hair. “When I was eighteen, I met a young man and fell madly in love. Unbeknownst to me, he was a vampire.” She let out a deep breath, looking down at her hands in her lap. When she lifted her eyes, sadness was prevalent there. “My father wouldn’t let me marry him. When I wouldn’t give him up, they killed him, but
