Another fucking disaster. The Floral shirt I wore was already torn in several places. It was a mess. My shorts were still in one piece but the sand had found its way to some very awkward places. I'd bet half my life there was sand in my ass. I dusted the sand on my short blonde hair on impulse. There was sand everywhere. The sand wasn't the most annoying part. My phone was in my pocket and bringing it out revealed a nasty break across the screen. It was dead. I tossed it angrily at the open sea aiming for nothing in particular. The sound of the device hitting the water was muffled away by the waves.

Ralph's heart sank as he witnessed the destruction. "Oh no, Lucinda is still in there!" Ralph cried out in anguish, sprinting towards the demolished structure, fueled by love and desperation. With incredible strength, he cleared away the debris, straining his muscles with every effort. Finally, he found Lucinda, her body buried under the rubble. Without hesitation, he carefully removed the bricks from her motionless form. "Lucy, Lucy!" Ralph called out, gently tapping her face. Lucinda slowly opened her eyes, relieved to see Ralph's face.

“I didn’t mean for any of this to happen.” “Sorry?” Advisor Ralph repeated in a voice that dripped with contempt. “You think saying sorry is going to fix the disaster you’ve created tonight?” Prisca reached the doorstep and tried to walk past her father into the house but he moved to block her path. “Dad please,” she said desperately. “I just need to come inside and rest and then we can talk about how to fix this situation.” “There is no fixing this situation,” Ralph said harshly. “You’ve destroyed everything I worked for and all the carefully laid plans I spent years putting into place.”

Work had been a bitch, and I’d needed this release to reset. “Hope you worked off your frustration,” Ralph, the owner of the training center and my personal instructor since I’d moved to D.C., said dryly. Short and stocky, he had the powerful build of a fighter and a mean mug, but deep down, he was a teddy bear. He’d knock my lights out if I ever told him or anyone else that though. “You looked like you had a personal vendetta against Harper.” Ralph named all the training dummies after TV characters or real-life people he didn’t like.

It wasn’t my wolf coming back yet, but it was hope. Maybe, just maybe, Zeus and I could fix each other. One broken piece at a time.

“It is kind of creepy, though.” Atticus wound his hands through his hair, strands of honey seeping down his wrists. “I didn’t have a choice.” Ralphin was quiet for a moment. Then he sat on the grass, splaying his legs out like a child. He gestured for Atticus to follow suit; after a second of reluctance, he did. “I need her back, Ralph. I – I’m useless without her.” His heart hollowed out, and he dug his nails into the loose soil. “I wanted to sever the mate bond cleanly, to rid myself of her. Instead, I… I’ve ruined myself.”

Ralph said while searching the room for Carly, as he seemed to be having fun with the chase. “I can do this all day,” he announced. As he got to the bathroom and tried to push through the door, but it turned out to be locked. “Ah, I see. This is getting more interesting,” A slow naughty smile spread across his lips. “This is where you are, huh?” He asked and channeled as much energy as he could to his hands before punching the door open; smashing it to pieces. “I found yo...” his excitement turned to shock and then anger when he found someone else instead of Carly.

“She looks like the kind who would when things don't go her way.” Ralph turned to me. “She smashed everything in there.” I stopped chewing. “What? Papa’s antique vases?” Ralph nodded. “Everything.” I swallowed hard and exploded in fury. “WHAT THE HELL’S WRONG WITH HER?” I dropped the utensils and wiped my mouth. “Those are unique items! There are no replacements!” The Mafia King spread his lips into a malicious grin and lowered his voice to correct himself. “I made a mistake—she only made a mess of the place.”
