She trudged up five flights, kicked her boots off inside, and froze. Something felt… off. She closed the door behind her slowly. The apartment was still. Not quiet — still. Air too heavy. The smell of something floral. Faint. Sweet. Wrong. Her eyes drifted to the bookshelf. The flower was back. No — flowers, plural. Two of them now. Deep crimson. Growing directly from the spine of Sea Glass Psalms, like they had rooted themselves into the poetry. No pot. No soil. Just… existing. Aria moved closer, slowly.

The cover of the book read, “Arthur Zimmerman, Game 71. I found the second shelf on the case and scanned for my next book. Book thirteen had a cover of deep purple. I frowned at the woman looking up at me, scanning over her tangled fiery curls, the cinnamon freckles across her nose, and the way her emerald eyes seemed to twinkle at me from the cover. Her hair and eyes were the only familiar thing about her. My face was a bit rounder than hers, and definitely held a bit more baby fat. Her cheekbones were high and her lips full, conventionally beautiful in a wild sort of way. I felt that twinge of guilt as I looked down at the cover. “Sasha Burnette, Game 51.”

♱ •⋅ 1750 B.C. ⋅• ♱ •⋅ Loren ⋅• ♱ Daffodils uncle had said and when I looked in the book with beautiful illustrations that dad had given me, I found a great picture of how the flower looked. A flower with six petals, in its center, was like a cup full of dots. It was beautiful, very beautiful, but the book said they were yellow and white. "Hummm..." sighed "I’m sure I’ve seen this flower before..." I muttered and my "nanny" waiting in the corner smiled.

… [3 days later] “Recently, The Pattinson Publication launched their first book publishing app along with 30 exclusive books. Among all of those, the book that gained everyone’s attention is named ‘Fragrance of LOVE’ by Tuberose. So far 100k ebook copies have been sold. The Publication has removed the book from the app and it’s only available for ebook and paperback.

I study her face for a moment before reaching for the parcel beside me. The paper wrapping crinkles softly beneath my fingers as I begin opening it carefully. Aspyn leans slightly closer, anticipation practically shining in her eyes. When the wrapping finally parts fully, I lift the flower from within. It is smaller than most ordinary blossoms, almost delicate in appearance. Dark crimson petals curl inward around a black center dusted faintly with silver pollen. Beautiful. Deadly. Aspyn stares openly at it. “That?” she asks quietly. I smile faintly.

The teacher said and Oorvi nodded holding the flower bouquet in her hands and took few deep breaths She just said she won't faint now because her head started to spin badly. She drank some more water to calm herself. She walked towards the guest and hand him the bouquet with a small smile and said " Welcome to our college Mr..." she could not complete her sentence as suddenly everything turned black around her as she lost her consciousness despite trying hard to stay awake and got saved by… ********************** Excited to know what happened next? Maybe I am dreaming… yes, life has been so stressful recently and that is what is happening but that book keeps on grabbing my attention. Moving towards it, I see that the cover is practically made of crystal. It is so sparkly and I can’t resist touching it. As my hand drags along the book, I feel this longing towards it. As it were mine so I flip it open and a gust of wind hits me in the face and multiple images flashes in my mind.

Maybe I am being childish, but I was utterly giddy because, after tonight, we will be fair play… That means he will not hold back anymore, and I will be able to see the real, passionate king under all that restraint. I walked around my room, which now smelled like a divine flower shop. Every bouquet had a little note explaining the kind of flower and its meaning for the elves. There was a Rainfall Rose that meant eternity, a Sunglow Peony that meant happiness, and so many more. In the center of all the flowers was a single MoonPetal Orchild, their symbol of true love.
