~ a few weeks before X-mas~ Billie's POV: I can't believe that in a few short weeks it will be Christmas. The holidays have me thinking about all of the orphaned pups that have joined the packs. None of them have any family left to care for them or see them on the holidays. So with that in mind I emailed the other two packs to bring all of their orphaned pups and childless couples with them today. All of the Alpha's agreed to it very quickly deciding this would be the best Christmas gift to all.

I doubt death changed his methods much. I read it a fourth time anyway, at my desk, with the city going dark orange outside my window and my father's old shipping charts still bolted to the wall behind me because I've never gotten around to taking them down. Thirty days. One marriage. One year, uninterrupted, or the whole empire slides sideways into the cousin's lap. Winter nodded, sitting down as she opened the first book. Hours passed in silence as they combed through decades of pack history, looking for any reference to the circumstances surrounding her transformation. At last, Winter sighed in frustration, reclining in her seat. “Nothing is here. It seems as though it never happened.” Flipping through another document, Hadzen scowled. “Never give up. Sometimes the answers are hidden in unexpected places.” Winter sighed but did as she was told, running her fingertips over the yellowed pages of an ancient diary. Suddenly, she noticed something—a name—as she flipped the last few pages.
