The Ember Ghost opened his mouth and showed his sharp teeth before lowering her mouth to the exposed woman’s neck. The crowd watched in silence as the Ember Ghost appeared to suck the woman’s blood. The woman’s arms flailed weakly but her face looked serene, if not enjoying the experience. Then, the woman’s expression slowly changed into pain and she grimaced. I'll get to why later, but let's first step back in history. Vampires have been a constant in folklore around the world, but our modern notion of the vampire came out of a particular cultural moment in 1816. But I should end this book here to move forward to the other plots I have been preparing to draft it into books.
