“Let me ask you something, Mark. If someday Laura and I were to have a serious argument, what would you do? Suppose it got bad enough that we considered separating?”
Mark smiled faintly, thinking for a moment before replying, “First, I’d try to find out who was at fault. Then, I’d talk to both of you, try to help you see reason. And if words didn’t work… well, maybe I’d have to knock some sense into whoever was being stubborn.” He chuckled softly. “To me, true friendship means guiding each other toward the right thing. Supporting a friend even when they’re wrong—that’s not loyalty, that’s foolishness. A real friend reminds you when you’ve gone astray.”
