I pulled it out and held it up to the torchlight. It was a book. It was small but thick, the cover made of dark, cracked leather. Most of the pages seemed to be intact, although they looked very brittle and yellow. Just then, something moved on the cover. I yelped quietly and nearly dropped it. A large, pale spider skittered its way across the surface and disappeared over the edge. I shook the book once, gently, and it plopped to the floor and scurried away. Looking back at the book, I turned it over in my hands and wiped the dust off the cover.

I said, “What book?” he asked, “All of them.” He looked extremely puzzled by this request but he simply nodded and left to carry out my wish. I wasn’t sure of what the exact book was but I knew I would recognize it if I saw it and I did when he brought them in. It had a purple hard cover back with the picture of a lily printed on it. She had looked so intrigued by it when she was reading it and I could tell that she loved it given how much she fought to have it.

She pulled the book out and looked at the cover. She could tell She was an old book; She looked lIke She could crumple to a mShell Shion Sheets at any theher. She wiped off the front cover but there was nothIng on Sheet. No tItle or author or pIcture; nothSheng.

What book is that? Jai leaned over to the front and took the book from the cushion to examine it. It was light and a bit thin. There was a picture in the cover that looked like a forest, and a small boy was in the picture, picking some mushrooms. The title was written in artistic way, like a children book would.

"Cassy, will you read with us?" I sighed, nodding as I slid down onto the bed beside her. "Sure thing, sweetheart. What are we reading?" She held up the book, the cover decorated with a grinning frog prince. I couldn't help but smile at the choice. "A Frog Prince, huh?" Marilee's face lit up as she handed me the book, settling between Phin and me. "Yeah! It's my favorite." Phin's grin returned, wider than before. "You'll love it," he said, winking at me as he leaned back with a mischievous look written on his face. It was a look I knew well. My brothers gave me it all the time.

The book had a sorcerer’s wand coloured violet on the cover. A blue smooth bookmark was attached to it. The book's edges looked like silver but felt like liquid mercury. "You can take the shortcut at the end of this room." "Thanks," I mouthed out. I walked to the other end of the room and placed my hand on the wall, waiting for something to happen.

"No return address." The package is small, rectangular. Brown paper, twine tied in a clean knot. Deliberate wrapping, like someone took time. Ava perks up. Medication forgotten. "For me?" "Let's see." I pull the twine loose, peel back the paper. Inside: a hardcover book. ‘The Paper Bag Princess’ by Robert Munsch. The cover shows a girl in a paper bag facing down a dragon, crown askew, determination written across her illustrated face.
