I said around a fry. "Oh, I found plenty." He dragged a hand through his hair - grown out enough now to look deliberately messy instead of professionally trimmed. "Club's human-specific. You get what that means?" Ice slid down my spine. Most humans forgot we existed. These ones? They remembered. And worse - they'd prepared. Xavier's grim expression confirmed it. "They've got safeguards. Serious ones." I pushed my plate away, appetite gone. After a long silence, I met his eyes. "I don't care what measures they have. We're getting in. Mom left something for me there. I'm not leaving without it."

Garry said with a big smile which seems to send Rune's heart racing, she looked away from his face. Gunner smiled with a nod Yesterday night, Beta Garvin had come to ask her how she convinced the Alpha and she told him everything, he couldn't stop thanking and smiling at her, she felt as if she was on top of the world, the kind of happiness that she felt was so out of her understanding. "So you would come back when Kaiden brings the human?" Garry asked to confirm he wasn't missing any detail. "Yes, We would come when the human is brought here and we would make the sacrifice, things would get better" Gunner answered.

'Well, at least one of us is having pleasant dreams,' Gore thought. Gore had to admit, Harlow grew on him over the year. Now he didn't know what he would do if he finally found her family. Gore got off his bed, made his way to his office. So he could over the report on a human that was supposedly killed by a werewolf. (Lore beings were forbidden to interact with humans unless they were their mates, which was very rear. So the chances of a human being killed by one were very slim.) Gore looked at the pictures, noticing every detail, then he saw it. Two small wounds on the dead male's neck.

"I am not sure. Since its your first baby, I can't tell for sure. Its a fifty-fifty chance." I gulped. I nodded my head and slowly left. I don't know what to think. I don't care if the baby is werewolf or human. I will love it still. I already love him or her. But Xavier on the other hand, I can't say that for sure. He hated the fact I was human when we met. If he comes to know that the baby might be a human, he might flip. Tears started dwell in my eyes. I don't know how to tell him. Or to tell him. I am just going to wait and decide. I went to our room and hide the picture after taking another glance.

They had been useful, but they knew too much. “Proceed,” I ordered. Darwin didn’t hesitate. A warehouse in the capital appeared on one of the screens. Three vampires waited inside, convinced they would receive payment and human documentation. The door closed. A silvery gas descended from the ceiling. One of them screamed as he realized it was concentrated sunlight. On another screen, two warlocks were stopped on a highway. The men who approached them wore uniforms of the new Human Protection Guard. The sorcerers raised their hands, showing the fake credentials we ourselves had given them, and our men executed them while they were on their knees.

“My lord. Urgent message from the border scouts. Alpha Garrett’s men have been seen sniffing around the outer territories. Asking about the human you bought.” Xior’s body went rigid beneath me. The playful lover vanished; the alpha returned. He dressed quickly, pressing a hard kiss to my lips. “Stay here. Sleep. I’ll return soon.” Alone in his massive bed, the furs still warm from him, I stared at the ceiling. Emma’s words echoed. Garrett’s interest was a threat. The council’s disapproval. My sister’s subtle resentment. And beneath it all, the growing certainty that Xior and I were tied by something ancient and powerful.

THE HUMAN GIFT The forest groaned under the weight of the storm. Wind howled through skeletal trees, and rain fell in relentless sheets, soaking cloaks, armor, and skin. Alpha Xavier moved like a phantom through the woods his eyes glowing faint gold beneath his hood, his presence silent but commanding. Behind him, kemmer, his Beta, and three guards kept pace, blades drawn, senses sharp. A metallic scent. Sharp. Tangled with smoke and blood. Xavier lifted a hand. Everyone halted.

Lord Xavier rode into his gated estate which has armed guards. The person following them stopped at the edge of a building, watching them from a distance. "Hey, you! What are you doing there? Peasants aren't allowed in this side of the city," a hefty-looking guard said as he advanced toward the stalker, along with his comrade. The stalker looked down, acting all scared. "I'm so sorry, sirs. I was just hoping I could get some scraps and leftovers." As she spoke, they realized it was a girl. So somehow, their disposition toward her softened.

Then the blonde could have him back. “I heard you weren’t interested in my buddy.” A growl built in the back of her throat at yet another interruption, but some tenuous hold on her human side made her restrain the noise. Still, her only thought was that she couldn’t lose sight of her prey. She didn’t even glance at the new speaker. All her senses were locked on the man at the table in front of her. “Maybe I’m more your type.” She fought back another irritated growl, but this time she did turn to the man standing very close to her.

Pollux PoV. ‘Pippo, come quickly!’ I called out to Godiva, who was collapsing in my arms. Her body was oozing sweat and looked a mess, with wide rips on her clothes. Damn humans! She harmed my mate. I would make her feel the consequences. One cut from my claws wasn't enough to teach him a lesson. Pippo came with Loris, our warrior, who was also the restaurant manager. I nodded my head to Pippo to take care of the damn human lying unconscious behind me. I also asked Loris to find a coat or something to cover Godiva's exposed body.
