They say the guards are there to keep me safe, but they are really just spies making sure the Lost Luna Heiress does not run away into the trees. Genevieve brought two massive guards for this trip to Crimson Moon City. They are the only wolves she could bribe to help her force an illegal mate bond. Whenever the family leaves the lodge, those two guards look at me like I am a piece of fresh deer meat. I call them Growler and Mean-Eyes. Mean-Eyes even tried to touch my tail when he helped me up the stairs after Genevieve put sleeping root in my water. I have to escape these awful wolves right now.

My eyes were closed so I do not know how or when it happened but all of a sudden the guards drop me unto the sandy ground and the king has my chin in a fearsome grip and his face is just a few inches away from mine. I almost let out a few chuckle but the situation I was currently in was one that no one had ever lived to tell the tale of it. His eyes were red and I could swear that he looked even bigger than he was just a few moments ago. Was it because he now closer to me. He looked like a beast on two legs staring down on his prey. It was very frightening a sight and once again, I was reminded of just how helpless we humans weee in comparison to the werewolves.

She replied. I gaped at her intensely as I wondered what the hell a human was doing in these parts. Or was she some kind of mystical being? I’ve heard that there are some other kinds of supernatural beings in other parts of the world. But not here. These parts are strictly ‘werewolf only' territory. Although some humans have managed to infiltrate at some point, they were driven away and some of them were killed. “What are you doing in these--” As I was about to ask her what she was doing here, I was interrupted by that pain in my head again. It was as severe as the first time.

Werewolves are big and muscular, making it so that if you see a werewolf, you immediately recognize it. This man is small but not skinny. He looks human, which makes me wonder. Why would the Alpha replace the old gardener with a human? I wish I could go to the garden right now and talk to him, but I’m weak and Damon refuses to let me out until I am completely healed. Once I’m healed, I’ll find out who this new gardener is. I don’t remember seeing him before anywhere. As I continue staring out at the garden, the doors to the alpha’s chambers push open. I turn my gaze toward the dominant and muscular man as he walks toward me.

I yelled. A hand made contact with my back and I jumped in worry, but my nerves eased when I saw that it was just Xander. “It's just me,” he assured me as he pulled my body close to his. I didn't mind the gesture. He probably wanted to make sure I was safe. We passed all the tables and Jorah led the way to another area that had guards at its entrance. “The VIP section,” Xander clarified. Astonishment filled me and I wondered if they had a double life. They were werewolves, yet they had businesses in the human world.

He shook the thought out of his head. Kimberly saw him watching —staring —but she didn't blink or turn away. She stared right back. He was very handsome. She thought. And boy, were his eyes eating her up. She could feel it from where she stood. And she was giving it right back. The helicopter landed. Before they could board, there was a yell from behind the house. Asher swore and turned in that direction. "Two guards" James said into his earpiece. "Son of a bitch. Early shift change. They just drove up. Paul, get down. On your left—"
