“New York, I’m back for you, baby.” Time to shake off all the stress from his little hiking adventure. He was ready for fun now. He pulled out his phone again and called his friends. The line connected, and cheerful voices greeted him. “Gav! You back already?” one of them asked. “Yeah,” Gavin said with a grin. “And I need a night out. Something nice. Tall, hot, blonde, and very... You know exactly how I like it.” The boys on the other side of the line roared with laughter.

It was my lifelong best friend Gavin, looking nervous. I set aside the bat, pretended to be half-asleep, and opened the door. He looked at me, his eyes wide with shock, as if he had just seen something horrifying. "You show up at my place in the middle of the night, someone after you for money?" I let out a yawn, pulled him inside, and poured him a glass of cool water, placing it beside him. Gavin grabbed the glass and drained it in one go, even licking the last drops from the sides.

Gavin's friend sits next to Leon while Gavin takes the seat next to me. I still feel the tension in the air. Leon looks at the two men, a mixture of surprise and excitement shown by his expression. “I would really love for us to talk, Leon, because it seems we would agree on so many things,” says Gavin's friend after the table is settled. “How do you know my name?” Leon asks him. “Well, let's just say, I know people,” he answers. Gavin on the other hand gives me a glance, before his lips curve into a smile. I fight the urge to get lost in that beautiful smile.

“Says the guy who at the age of twenty-three sabotaged my driver’s exam.” “Gavin told Odin to stay away so Odin called in a favor.” “Seriously, though, does Odin have like gay p**n of you or something he extorts you with? Why are you his lapdog slash dancing monkey?” “Nah. He’s my best friend. We made vows as kids.” He paused, “is Marsha really gay?” “Not my place to tell.” “Between you and me. I won’t say anything to him.” “As if I’d trust you.”

So, my best friend rolled her eyes at him before she turned her attention back to me. "I didn't know that his face was too thick to bring the three of them here. I never thought they would gate crashed, sis. Especially that lover of yours who really made a scene,” she added with a frown and turned her gaze to Gavin who was now sitting on the sand. Then, later on, she smirked. "Did you know that you just look like a desperate fool for doing that trick?" she mocked at him. “Lyf, you don’t have to say tha—” I was about to stop my crazy best friend from provoking Gavin but the latter cut me off.

“My friend from the competition. Remember how she came to visit the Silver Crescent pack with Shirley and Chuck?” Gavin nodded as the memory came back to him. “Oh, yes. Right. How is she? I forgot she was from this pack,” he told me. “She’s been traveling a lot, but yes. This is her pack. She’s from the same pack as Chuck. She might be able to give us some insight.” Gavin kissed my cheek softly. “Thank you for being there for her in a way that I cannot.” I smiled at him. “Even if she wasn’t your daughter, I’d still do this for her. She’s my friend and I care about her,” I tell him as he wraps me tighter in his arms.

"Yup, I know." "You know but then you keep on dragging me to this." "Of course, I am teaching you how to get a life, too." Rebecca wanted to cover her face with her palms. Her best friend's silliness is becoming too much at times. She has to go with her, anyway. She doesn't want to die waiting for her to come home because she's only on her own. Having no choice, she agreed. The only thing that worries her is the possible encounter she will have with Gavin. She knew that Marvin and Gavin were really good friends. She remembered spotting the two of them together around the school's premises.

Gavin yelled. My best friend bled profusely from his chest. Gavin held his claws up as he was about to attack Gage again. Damn it. I abandoned Brandon and shoved Gavin. He hit the oak tree behind him. “Dude, are you okay?” Gage winced. “I’m fine.” Brandon got to his feet and zoomed off. “Coward!” I yelled. He left his money and the other briefcase behind. “Maybe we underestimated you, Maverick,” Gavin chuckled and spat a mouthful of blood.

"I am sorry, I am sorry. Don't do this with me. I won't do it again." Gia was still frowning and finally the man touched his ear. "Please, you are my only friend." He pleaded and this time Gia couldn't stay angry. "Gavin, I hate you so much." She sighed. They only met two weeks ago but no one can say this as they looked like childhood friends. Gia quickly combed her hairs and was ready to go on a fake date with Gavin to make his ex jealous. Gavin smiled and held her hand. "Let's go girlfriend."

“What are you doing here? This is a private vacation with my daughter.” Elena’s gaze slid over to Mia, appraising her slowly from head to toe. “And who is this lovely young thing? She looks far too beautiful to be just a ‘family friend.’” Mia lifted her chin, refusing to be intimidated. “Mia Thompson. Lily’s best friend.” “Best friend,” Elena repeated, amusement flickering in her eyes. “How sweet. You must be very… close to the family.” The way she said it made Mia’s skin crawl.
