His voice was calm, almost friendly. “Good. I was starting to worry the chloroform was too strong.” Eli pulled harder against the chains. The metal dug into his wrists. “Who are you? Why did you take me?”

**UNKNOWN LOCATION** The room was dimly lit by the glow of multiple computer screens. The air was thick with the low hum of cooling fans and the faint scent of stale coffee. A lone figure sat hunched over a large desk, fingers flying across three different keyboards at once. Lines of code, security feeds, and encrypted files scrolled rapidly across the monitors. The hacker — known only as “Ghost” in certain dark circles — had been digging for weeks, following every trail related to the Hale family and the mysterious scholarship girl who had suddenly appeared in Cassian Hale’s life.

I was a bit surprised at that but I knew he had friends left over from his own Sire days before giving it all up. “Have you ever heard of Ghost?” Milo leaned back in his seat and I wanted to hit that grin off his face. “Ghost is a myth because in reality nobody can be that good, move unseen, unheard and strike so silently that his victims are killed with guards just outside their doors.” Ryder’s tone was low but he clearly didn’t believe that Ghost existed. Malakai said and Eden's eyes widened. She never knew the extent to which Malakai could go.

He muttered and smiled a sad one before walking out of the room; then, I went close to my body to look at it intently. "I felt his touch. I felt my father's hand holding mine!" I let out when I noticed the four ghosts who just passed through the wall on my right. They must have seen my father walking into my room.
