It ancient, coiled tight, layered over itself so many times it made my teeth ache.
We crested a small rise, and there it was.
At first glance, it looked like nothing. Just a circle of bare earth nestled between ancient stones, the ground unnaturally smooth, untouched by leaf or root. Then the rune shimmered, faint lines igniting beneath the soil like veins of pale silver light.
It was a teleport rune.
Delilah stepped beside me, awe momentarily overriding her fatigue. “That’s… the barrier?”
“Yes.”
