“What, did you pick him up from some gigolo club?” The man grabbed him by the throat, eyes cold as he lifted River from the ground. “What did you just say?” The man growled threateningly. River’s face turned red as he struggled to breathe. “Let me go!” River choked out. The man seemed to tighten his grip and River’s hands started grabbing at the man’s hand—but the man didn’t even react to it. As River started making choking sounds, I realized he might actually suffocate. I put my hand on the man’s shoulder and squeezed it.

The moment the plane touched down, I made my way through the terminal, suitcase in tow. Suddenly, I caught the sound of my uncle's voice, booming as he waved a sign above the crowd. I spun around, a smile breaking across my face, to see my uncle and my aging grandmother approaching me. My uncle looked much the same as I remembered, and my grandmother's eyes still shone with that same tender love. "Jim, let me get a good look at you!" My grandma stroked my hand, her eyes glistening with unshed tears. "My dear boy, you've had it rough out there. However, you're home with us now, and nobody's going to hurt you again."

However, in that moment, a cold wave of fear crept up my spine. On that exact day last year… Someone really had died in that river.

"Cease fire! Are you going to kill our leader!?" They withdraw their guns and roamed their eyes on the river, in which, they can only see was the gradual disappearing of the tiny bubbles. Meanwhile, Raven mounted from the river side, far from where the bridge is located. He is pulling the man's arm—unconscious. Raven placed the man at the muddy grass, he took off its bonnet and tap its face. "F-cking bastard... talk to me!" he punched the mans chest and stomach, causing it to wake up and cough river water.

“Don’t tell me you killed a human.” ‎ ‎River let out another short laugh, shaking his head. ‎ ‎“Of course not,” he said, almost offended. “Why would I kill a human?” ‎ ‎The tension in my shoulders dropped instantly, and I exhaled without even realizing I had been holding my breath. ‎Relief washed through me quick and unguarded. ‎ ‎River noticed. Of course he would. ‎ ‎A slow grin spread across his face, his eyes gleaming with amusement. “So you care about the humans?”

I shook violently as the medicine Mom made me drink scattered onto my body, pulling me under, deeper into darkness. But even as my consciousness faded, one truth remained. That mansion in my vision… It wasn’t my imagination.
