“I don’t know. Daddy says they protect the city, but I don’t see how. They never do anything.” My finger stopped on a worn out book. The faded writing on the spine said Beasts Of The Wild. I pulled it out and flipped it open in the middle. There was a drawing of a yeti-looking creature called a yowg. The description gave details of height, size and hair colour. Dietary information and habitats were also included. I flicked through more pages and found more creatures, some of which I was familiar with. The names, at least. Unfortunately, the book wasn’t organised into alphabetical order, so I had to search a number of pages before I found what I was looking for: Mouse King.

I was sure. I sighed and flipped it open again, running my fingers across the stiff old pages. The writing inside was tiny, neat, and definitely older than anything I had ever seen in Father’s library. Each chapter had illustrations of different beasts, creatures I’d only heard whispers of. Gargoyles, gnomes that were alive, serpent women and even sirens. None of these existed though… or did they? I could feel my head throbbing from an oncoming headache so I just shut the book and stared at the ceiling of my room.

Running his fingers through his hair, he sighed, “I haven’t a clue where to find a zombie.” “I do,” Ben said with a satisfied smile. “How much do you know about zombies?”

Quinn He stared at the large book Em had made him for Christmas. From the first moment he opened it .. he felt.. shocked. His mother’s eyes stared back at him in a portrait of hers that he’d never even seen before. Em had made some sort of scrap book for him. And now he understood the warning she’d given before he opened it. On the opposite page she’d written his moms full name .. and the date that the picture had been taken. I couldn't help it, it was too terrifying and looked disgusting, especially with my ability to create a vivid imagination just by reading a book which is why I could imagine those gore scenes and blood scenes. I was warned by the author that the chapter contains bloody scenes, gore, and other scenes that aren't suitable for those who are eating but I didn't mind those warnings and happened to eat cookies while reading the content. I almost vomited everything that I ate that time because of the content that I read. It made me lose my appetite which made me lose two pounds that day but I still read it anyway out of curiosity, enduring my goosebumps. That was the reason why I concluded that the

“Guess I’ll need security for Goose.” He smirked, his thumb brushing lazily over my shoulder. “I’ll take that gig.” The room smelled like candle wax and cinnamon, the kind of cozy chaos I’d once only written about. My notebook sat on the table, a clean new one with a sticker that read Book Two. I picked it up, running my fingers over the cover before flipping it open. The first page stared back at me, blank, full of promise. Goose flicked his tail, pressing his head against my arm like he was reminding me who the real inspiration was.

Gabby left and came back a while later with a big book titled, 'THE LEGENDS OF BIGFOOT" Huh? Bigfoot?! She rose her head and opened her mouth to say something but caught Gabby looking from her face to the book in quick successions. She was trying to tell her something. Bigfoot wasn't actually Bigfoot? Maybe this was another book that might help her. She discreetly nodded and Gabby smiled. "I'm sorry this library couldn't help much but I hope you really enjoy this one. Page 138 has a very funny paragraph, check it out." Eleanor nodded. "Sure, thanks."
