It was enough that I could slip a claw through and slice the barrier up through the middle. I was immediately falling from the sky. I imagined a soft pillow catching me, uncertain if that exercise would work. I closed my eyes, fearing the worst as I dropped hard to the ground. Surrounding me was the fluffiest pillow that took the brunt of my fall. I laid there for a second, catching my breath.

Taking my stance I tried to jump with all of my power into my legs. Jumping with all my might my disappointment is immeasurable. You're kidding me, right!? I could only jump about ten inches! What a weird gravity. Don't call me a dumb if I didn't notice it earlier it's not like my body feels heavy but it more like something is pulling me downwards as soon I leave the ground. Maybe because I don't feel anything that I didn't notice the weird gravity here in the void. What an asshole on whoever made this! Oh well... Because now I know the reason behind this I tried to climb up once again with more cautiousness.

He froze when he saw Lyra drifting near the ceiling. "Emma! She’s doing it again!" Félix squeaked, nearly dropping the tray. He set it down frantically and lunged for the baby, catching her in mid-air and tucking her securely against his chest. "Lyra, we talked about this. Gravity is a friend. Gravity keeps us on the ground where the snacks are." Lyra just gurgled, reaching out to grab a handful of Félix’s blonde hair.

They were rising, his two feet, like two kites on his thin, wiry legs, slowly rising out in front of him and above my head. There was my abdomen, splayed out ahead of me. I was unable to make out the edges of my waist because of the fluttering of my t-shirt in the wind as I fell. The realisation had dawned. I could feel nothing under me. Even the air was nowhere. My hands were flapping by my side—two noodles I had no control of. My chest tightened, my breath speeding up. I managed to force my eyes shut, bracing for impact. I was powerless versus gravity; I was falling.

“What? How is that possible?” My hands instantly lost their strength and I let go of the Globe. It fell to the ground and shattered with a loud crashing noise, causing even more chaos in the hall. My knees wobbled and I fell to the ground as I locked my gaze with his. “Randall.”

Kiera’s Pov My hands and legs flailed helplessly, as the water joined hands with the force of gravity to pull me down. Water got into my nose, mouth, and ears, and it was a very horrible feeling as I plummeted downwards, unable to even scream, unable to cough, unable to choke, just getting rained down by the powerful water. My hands fought to grab anything I could find, just anything as my heart seemed to want to tear right out of my chest. But all that happened was my hands sailing right through the water, unable to grab anything.

In the next second, I snap my feet together and shove them between his legs where he stands in the dirt and drops my weight back. His head pulls back, and he sways toward me, giving my legs momentum like a pendulum swinging between his wide legs beneath him. I look up from between his legs and watch as he loses his balance and descends backwards. It’s a scramble to get out of the way of his way as he steps a knee back and steadies himself with an ease that seems ethereal. I am frozen on my hands and knees, watching as he yet again defies gravity and stays up right.

I grabbed his hand and allowed him to help me - my shoulder slightly burning at the action. “What you were doing is a common rookie mistake. Find your center of gravity. Never keep your legs close to each other.” He instructed. “Thanks.” I mumbled and rubbed the back of my butt to brush off the sensation from the fall. “You could have told me that in the first place.”

I balled my fist and rushed towards him in anger for mocking my father's illness. “Bastard! I told you not to–" a scream escaped my mouth when I tripped while rushing towards him. The earth stilled as my body began to fall to the hard ground beneath me. Embarrassment and horror welled up in me, and I slammed my eyes shut, cursing at the law of gravity. Before my body touched the ground, a large hand gripped my waist and suspended me in the air. Relief washed over my body, and my heartbeat returned to its normal pace.

The first stretch went smoothly. Hands gripping stone. Boots pressing into small ridges. Halfway up her muscles began to burn. Not from weakness. From effort sustained longer than expected. She paused on a narrow ledge to breathe. The valley floor below looked different from this height. Not threatening. Not endless. Just terrain she had crossed. Perspective again. She continued climbing. A rock shifted under her right hand. It broke free and tumbled downward. Her balance wavered. For a second she felt the pull of gravity in full force.
