My arms flailed, fingers desperately reaching for something—anything—to keep me upright, but there was nothing. I braced for impact, my heart slamming against my ribs, but just before I hit the ground, strong arms caught me, halting my fall effortlessly. Warm. Firm. Steady.

I replied, pulling the box of cereals. However, as I placed both hands down, getting ready to get down, the stool tilted upwards, and my hands flailed around to hold on to something. “Ahh!” In the blink of an eye, I was down on the ground. My palms hit the ground first, but it did little to cushion the fall. Something fast, and sharp shot through my lower belly. A deep pang. “Ahh!” I let out sharply, placing both hands on my belly. And hot liquid began to gush out— soaking my legs, and dress.

The phone fell to the floor as the room started going round in circles. With one hand on my chest as if soothing the pain, I let myself slide into oblivion.

She looked down at him once more, measuring the distance. Then she pushed herself forward. Her body dropped from the second floor. Her hands stretched outward instinctively as gravity pulled her down quickly toward him. Caleb positioned himself carefully, his arms ready. At the last second, he moved forward and caught her. The force of her fall pushed both of them backward. They lost balance and fell to the ground together. But he held her tightly against him, absorbing most of the impact with his body. They landed with him beneath her, his arms securely around her waist, protecting her from the hard ground.

However, Jai wasn’t as lucky. He was falling. He tried to grab the tree beside it just like the gorilla, but he wasn’t that strong. Also, since the fall being intensified by gravity, it doesn’t make it a good idea to just grab the impenetrable tree bark with his bare hands. Well, he tried, but the bark was only slightly burnt when he tried grabbing it, and instead he hurt his hands in the process. That’s how he learned better not do that for the second time.
