I look away from the window and instead sit on my bed and stare at the ceiling. I barely slept because of the strange feeling.

It was a beautiful, silver metal formed into a crescent moon cradling two small stars, with gemstones that glowed with an inner light that seemed almost alive.

A cream-colored linen, simple but soft, stitched with a love that never died. I slid it on carefully. It clung to my waist and fluttered just above my knees. I stood staring at my reflection. The girl in the mirror didn’t look like someone that was going to become a Luna someday. Didn’t look like power. Didn’t look like someone the Moon Goddess would bless with powers. But I would try. I reached for my pendant, clutching it to my chest. “Please… if you can hear me… just let him be mine.” I prayed, pleading with the moon goddess as if she could hear my prayers.

Stephen smirked. “Yeah you’re right. This place fits me well.” They all talked for a while but now it was getting dark the moon was coming out. “We should probably go inside.” Greg said. “I think the supper’s also ready.” Stephen told. Dara kept on looking at the moon. It seemed as the most beautiful thing she has ever seen. Ellen shook Dara, “Come on honey it’s getting dark and cold.” Dara went inside with her family but she wished to stare at that beautiful thing for a little longer.

I wait til I hear feel the cold air drifting into the kitchen and the soft sound of a door closing before glancing into the hallway again. Through the doors glass I could see Embers back to me. The left side of her body was eliminated white from the moon and her hair looked like silver threads as they hung down her back. Creeping towards the door she shifts and a second later a see a silvery gold wolf dashing across the snow, her body low as she ran.

Chapter 23 An endless sea of blackness was all that met her eyes. That darkness, broken only by the soft glow of the moon, only that the moon was split in two halves. She watched as the two equal halves, both with jagged edges facing each other, hung in the sky, both maintaining a great distance apart. The two halves drifted slowly towards each other, occasionally even moving together, Laurel imagined their intention was to come together and become whole.

My breath hitched, I was in confusion, when to add more, my eyes caught the reflection on the long mirror across the room, and I gasped, shock rippled through me as I stared at the sight staring back right at me, it was supposed to be me, but it was not me.
