Coach Mitchel waves to someone to shut down the music so he can make his final halftime speech. “You all know what you need to do. We’re playing the Super Bowl champs and you’re playing like a championship team but each one of you can do more.”

"Thanks baby," I said and he nodded. He passed out food to the other girls and then there was tip-off. For the first quarter and a half, I just ignored everything else. This was part of my payment for agreeing to this stupidity, so I was going to win the game. And things looked pretty good for the home team. I could tell that Rachel and Beth were staring daggers at me and I liked it. About mid-way through the second quarter there was a time-out. The television stations apparently went to commercial break. Suddenly, the PA boomed out.

Amelia has been playing nice, but how long will it last. “Okay I will see you later. We really need to have a guys night out as soon as the meeting stuff is behind us. It has been way too long since we have gone to Fred’s to see who could drink more.” He laughed like I hadn’t heard him laugh in a very long time. “It’s a bet. You know I can drink you under the table. I have a crisp one hundred dollar bill that says I will beat you. Go enjoy some lunch with your woman. I’m going to work a little bit longer and head out for a late lunch with Amelia.”

There is no way he likes me. Holiday has the ball and they are making it count. Our defense can't seem to keep them from getting their ten yards and before we know it they have driven 83 yards down the field and scored a rushing touchdown. I groan as their band plays their school fight song. For the next thirty five minutes we watch both teams battle and score. The offenses on both sides, are tough. The defenses are having a hard time so the game is a high scorer. When half time arrives, I stay in my seat, no bathroom for me. Everyone heads to the restrooms or refreshments besides Mr. Ryan and me. Which is a little on the awkward side, but I focus on the halftime
