After months of virtual communication, she decides to visit him in his small Californian town of Pleasant-Tree-Ville. When she arrives, she gets less than a warm welcome from the other SS members. I thought, if I could show that she wasn’t our problem, then the Conclave could stop blaming the werewolves from being responsible. “Okay good, what species of supernatural is she then?” I asked, and Jamie looked confused. “From what I can tell Alpha, she isn’t any supernatural species. She’s human,” he said, and I looked at him in surprise. “What?” I asked. This suddenly got more complicated. If she was human, then it was possible that she had a werewolf friend feeding her the information. “Are you sure?” I asked, and he nodded and turned towards the screen. Several medical looking documents appeared with a list of long words that I didn’t understand.

It would kill him slowly, first attacking his organs and then spreading through his body. I climbed onto the bed and put an arm around him. He was a big wolf and his coat was shiny and feather soft. It smelled nice. I’d never been this close to a werewolf in the animal form. I stared at the blood seeping onto the mattress. Burying my face in his body, I whispered, “I’m so sorry.” I glanced up when I heard the rattling of bars. Harley was standing outside with a frown etched on his face. He was looking at me like one would look at a garden bug. He passed a small syringe through the little slot inside the cell.

Harley's body convulsed as bones snapped and reshaped, fur retreating, limbs shrinking. I rose instantly, grabbing the sheets from the bed as her Lycan form melted away, revealing her human body beneath. When the shift finally ended, she lay still on the floor. The sight of her small and fragile human body crashed relief through me so hard my knees nearly buckled. Thanking the goddess in my heart, I wrapped her in the sheets immediately, lifting her gently and placing her on the bed. I tucked her in carefully, brushing her hair from her face. Harley looked exhausted and pale, but the steady rhythm of her breathing was promising.

I reassure my mate as he follows Harley and me inside. “What happened? Why is Ryder in his lycan form?” Eya asks, holding Anarchy close when Harley carries me through the glass double doors. “Ryder isn’t the one forward right now, he has given Harley control. He was in a great deal of pain from Dagon torturing Freya.” I look up into Harley’s eyes, wishing I could take his and Ryder’s pain. “Harley, it’s weird seeing everyone’s lycan come forward. You’re are quite magnificent,” Eya looks down at Anarchy, who squirms in her arms then whimpers.

he announced. “A man?!” Sara yelled, standing up from her seat. She stood behind the young man who was staring at his laptop screen, zooming the footage for a clearer view. Sara's heart jumped into her stomach as she caught sight of the tall, well built man with long black hair, clad in black sweatshirt and pants. “Ryker!!” She gasped as his face came to view. Her mouth went dry as she scrambled for her phone. “He's getting close, the men might shoot!!” She cried, her hands trembling on her phone.

“That’s what I wanted to know. I was rough on her when we met. I caught her flashing her breasts at you.” Astonishment slammed into Moon. “What?” Harley grinned. “Yeah. That’s what went through my mind. I was ready to toss her over my shoulder and jog her to the front gates, thinking she was a pervert about to take advantage of you or teasing you just to be cruel. You wouldn’t respond to anything but her showing her goods, Moon. That was about the sum of it. I was leery at first of her reasoning but it worked. It seems sexy humans showing a lot of skin tames the beast in you or at least makes you talk to get to see more.” He laughed.

"You what?" "I saw my mom." She admitted in a half whisper. "And she wasn't alone. She was with a man, but it wasn't Zander. This man gave all the opposite vibes that Zander did. He said his name was Michael." "Do you… or have you known anyone with that name?" Harley shook her head. "No, not in my life. Maybe in passing but not on a personal level." She sighed. "But he seemed to know me, and I thought I had died, or at least dying, but when I tried to get closer they wouldn't allow it."

We watched as the gray wolf took his last breath. Feeling someone behind I turn to see Hermione standing there, wrapping my arms around her waist. I pull her towards me and hold her there because I need to know that she is okay, knowing that she is in the presence of someone like Alpha Gemini. Seeing Harley coming in our direction, he looks stressed and I'm guessing the Alpha is not the only trouble we're gonna have today. “Alpha,” he says once he reaches us, he looks in the direction of the dead wolf “Oh, who was that?”

Lee appeared in the doorway with a tired yet loving expression. Harley hurriedly wiped his eyes, straightening his posture. But the woman only smiled faintly and hugged him tightly. “You’ve been strong enough today, Harley... rest now.” And for the first time in a long while, Harley let himself cry. In a mother’s embrace, not as a doctor, not as a burden, but as a child… who was losing love and direction.
