Werewolves weren’t just predators—they were killers.
I could still see the cage they’d brought us to when we were kids, the wolf inside snapping at the bars, eyes wild and feral. Jade had reached out, thinking she could calm it, that it could be tamed.
The way it had lunged—faster than we’d thought possible—and left its mark on her arm. The jagged scar on her left arm still stood out against her skin, pale and scarred.
“How could you forget that?” she demanded, stepping closer, her voice tight. “And…” Her gaze dropped to my side, her lips tightening into a grim line. “You think I didn’t notice the claw marks? Or the way you try to hide your limp?”
