Harvard Classics Five-foot Shelf Of Books の小説・ストーリー

10: Blue-eyed Bat “Where can I have it?” Dawn asked Seta, and she pointed out one corner of the room, that have a zip code design five tier tall corner shelf There are pile of antique books, neatly place in there but the book covers are almost rotten. “You can see the book you are looking in that shelf. Just look for it.” Seta once again point the shelf and Dawn nodded as a response.

The room felt cold. FIVE YEARS LATER I stepped into the library to pick a book for a boring literature assignment given to me by Prof Gray about pride and prejudice. I hate that story. I was in my final year at college and I still don't understand why a professor will be giving me such an assignment. I walked through the shelves which contained literature books and bumped into someone. Her books fell to the ground so as she, her long brown hair covered her face. I don't budge to bend and help her, how clumsy is she? I'm sure she is a freshman.

As a child, he hadn't understood the need, but as a beep granted him access to the room and he stepped inside, he recalled the gist. From the hardwood planks decorated with a massive area rug to the thirty-foot vaulted ceiling, shelves held volumes and volumes of books. First edition Tolstoy to Poe, Austen to Bronte, and every second or third edition in between. Encyclopedias and manuals. The very top shelves harbored journals dating all the way back to Minister Gregory Meath, reachable only by a ladder, and in protection casing for preservation. The original Bible he'd brought over from Ireland was in a decorative glass box in the corner next to a colossal oak desk.

We have a nice selection of them, actually. Along with the journals are some musty cloth-bound editions of classic literary texts. You know the kind. Books which appear antique and valuable but aren’t. Here’s a damp, musty-smelling copy of Benito Cereno, next to a collection of Shakespeare’s plays. Also, several classic editions of Hemingway’s novels. Now here’s something interesting. A diary. Upon opening it, a name scrawled on the inside cover grabs my attention: “Jebediah Bassler.” Of Bassler House? Bassler Road, and Bassler Memorial Library? This is interesting, to say the least.

Upon the front desk, piles of leather-bound books rested, covering the sight of the old man—but she could see his wrinkled hand with a quill, writing on the parchment. In quick succession, she crawled beneath the tables and slipped into the towering shelves unnoticed. Librad contained over twenty red-oak book stacks, all aligned in columns and rows, and also surrounded by an entire wall of shelves. Through the narrow space above one section of books, Larice spied the Persian-red door behind the old keeper. She needed to lure the man away from the desk for a short while, so she could head for the door without being spotted. All of a sudden, a silent laugh hissed from the back row of the shelv

“Nikolai will be down shortly. There is sweet tea on the table if you would like a refreshment.” “Thank you.” When Aaron stepped out, I took everything in. I couldn’t help it, I stepped up to the bookshelves and ran my hands over the books bindings, loving the feel of the different textures. In his collection he had vintage books, possibly even a few first editions of some classics, along with more modern titles.

he asks as we head toward the upper level. "Yes. It was rude of you not to offer last night." "If I forget my pack manners, do tell me. But I think you will favor this space," he admits. "Your private den?" "Better," he says, pushing the heavy door wide. My jaw drops. I never imagined a massive library, books climbing from the floor to the rafters. A ladder, taller than the one below, glides along the shelving. "Holy shit. Are those fifteen-foot shelves?"

“Not many students have reason to.” The lock clicked. Then another. With a soft groan, the gate slowly swung open. The room beyond was somehow even larger than I’d expected. Shelves. Endless shelves. Some reached nearly to the ceiling. Others held neatly labeled wooden boxes instead of books. Leather-bound journals filled entire rows. Rolled maps rested inside long cubbies built into one wall. Stacks of loose manuscripts waited patiently on broad tables beneath protective cloths. It felt less like walking into another room… And more like stepping into someone’s lifetime.

He replied and nudged to the bookshelf lining the wall. I sashayed to it and began taking down the books. They were mostly boring business and philosophical ones and a sprinkle of self-help books, which was quite surprising. Lorenzo didn't strike me as the type of man to read those types of books. Standing on the tip of my toes, I reached out to one of the books at the topmost shelf, and I frowned when I couldn't reach it. I jumped, and I almost squeaked as my movement caused my dress to hike up and expose a bit of my a**.

Others were rigid and pristine, embossed in gold or silver, the lettering sharp enough to catch even the faintest light and reflect it back like quiet defiance. I moved toward them almost unconsciously, drawn by the gravity of ink and knowledge, of secrets stored and unspoken. Each shelf was full but not overcrowded—balanced, precise. A quiet testament to the professor’s mind. The air here smelled richer, older. Leather, dust, faint hints of dried herbs still clinging to the pages.
