He assured her. Hunter roared the engine to life as Draken's men cleared the road—Draken's car along with three Fortuners were right behind Hunter's car. They reached the North Pack safely. Aurora was sick and it was related to her being a hybrid. She often goes through this pain but this time it wasn't that severe thanks to her wolf. Hunter stayed there with Aurora for a while but he couldn't bring his mind to rest. "You should get yourself treated," Draken said, noticing blood on Hunter's back. Hunter shook his head. Getting himself treated was the last thing on his mind.

A low, vibrating growl erupted from the shadows behind the rocking chair. Zack froze. Two red pits of fire opened in the dark. Fenris stepped out. He was a massive, scarred Feral who had refused the cure. He hadn't shifted back to human in three days. His fur was matted with dried gore, his ribs showing through his flanks. He didn't move to attack. He just sat next to Lyra. He placed a heavy, clawed paw over her small foot. "Tell your dog to back off," Zack rasped, his hand hovering over the silver blade at his belt.

Suddenly, I’m aware that if Xavier walks in right now, this stops being emotional. It becomes war. “Kendrick.” Xavier’s voice cuts through the room like a blade. He’s standing in the doorway, shoulders rigid, eyes locked not on his brother— But on me. His gaze drops briefly to my mouth. Then to my wrist. The red marks on my wrist were very obvious. I moved instantly creating space between Kendrick and me as soon as I saw the direction of his gaze. Something in his expression changes. Dangerously. “What is this?” Xavier asks, his voice low.

I opened my mouth, fully prepared to rant about Anthony and his never-ending cryptic missions, but Alexandra beat me to it. “So wait… this Ravager,” he said slowly. “You think it’s the same one he hunted back then?” “Yeah, maybe,” Will muttered, shutting the trunk with a loud thud.
