Not like this.” His voice caught, just slightly, but he forced it steady. “I feel like I’m going to die, kitten.” That made her head turn, slowly, as though it weighed a hundred pounds. Her eyes met his at last, glassy with unshed tears.

He felt like he has never felt before and just wanted to break free from her and clear his head, but something tells him this situation is just the beginning. Something tells him they won't be parting body soon. Her frail body was pressed to his own, with her head resting against his chest and arms around him.
