My eyes are on her, didn't even blink, not for once.
She hasn't moved, just laid there, face pale, blank, no emotion, no life to her.
The final heartbeat seems to be my own, and that's the scariest part.
The machines speak in sharp, merciless beeps, lines on the screen going high and low.
I try to breathe, but my chest locks, tight and useless.
