“If you’re attempting to discern whether I’m telling the truth or not, taking my pulse won’t work.” Hagrid chuckled. “It hasn’t failed me before.” “But were you trying to monitor the heartbeat of someone with a heart condition?” Looking past Hagrid, Gianna told the man who’d remained behind. “I have medication in here, if you want to check to be sure. I have a heart condition that often causes my heartbeat to be irregular. It had nothing to do with whether I’m telling the truth or not.” She looked back to Hagrid. “But by all means, continue holding my hand if that’s what you truly want to do.”

But I failed. Heavy pants escaped my lips as my fatigued lungs threatened to collapse. My heart was beating in a magnitude that dared to rupture my chest cavity to shreds. If that actually happened I might have probably begged God to let me replace my runaway heart with a rock. Seriously, a cardiac malfunction has become rampant these days, I was just trying to not fall into that hole. Bending over as I rested my hands on my knees, I tried to catch my breath and steady the rate of my deafening heartbeats. It seemed to be beating a hundred times per minute instead of the normal pace which is seventy-two.

My blood went rushing to my head when she bobbed her head in a sharp yes. Unless I was experiencing an episode of sudden cardiac arrest, why the bloody hell was my heart beating so loudly? I could feel it all the way up to my throat, thudding against my ribcage. I could even hear it through all the monitoring devices in the room. This is not normal.

He glanced up at me with a countered look, a smirked appeared against his lips. "Something hurts but it's far below" He says. I licked my lips causally while ignoring his comment, I started to feel around his chest with my patches, any places that make him feel bare hands. I looked for any bumps, any swollen immediate pain. Everything looked to be fine, I checked his heart beat which sounded a lot stronger today. "Are you taking your medicine?" I asked, my hand was still placed against his chest "Yes." "Your heart picked up the pace, it's a lot stronger now." I almost shouted with excitement, I always get like this with any of my patients.

She shuddered at the thought and tried to push it from her mind, but deep down, she knew the worst was yet to come. The menacing look on Alexander's face brought fresh memories of their first encounter. Sophia was jolted awake by a loud knocking at the door. It sounded more like a bang than a knock. She quickly got out of bed, wondering who could be knocking so hard. With a racing heart, she jumped out of bed and rushed to the door.
