High Pitched Noise When Blowing Nose Novels & Stories

A sound escapes me…small, humiliating. “Easy,” the voice says again, closer now. “You’ve been through enough.” My heart slams hard against my chest. Enough of what? The road crashes back into my mind without warning. Headlights. A horn blaring too loud. The sound of my own breath hitching as I stepped forward. The pressure in my skull spikes suddenly, sharp and blinding. I gasp, fingers curling into the sheets beneath me as the memory fragments overlap the buzzing traffic noise changing into shouting, metal screeching into something that sounds like screaming.

It created a narrow choke point where the wind shrieked through broken window frames. The sound was high-pitched and relentless. Auditory texture: sharp, whistling, cutting through the thin air. The vibration of the wind rattled the loose glass in the frames above my head, a rhythmic clatter that masked the sound of fifty Sand-Eaters breathing in the dark. "Hold," I whispered into the comms. My own voice felt like grit in my throat. My jaw was locked, the masseter muscles bunching until my molars ached. The Sand-Eater Alpha crouched beside me. He licked his chops, a wet, repetitive sound. His yellow eyes were dilated, fixated on the horizon where a cloud of red dust rose into the atmosphere.

Shana laid her head down on Halsey's lap as she snuggled close to her. She could hear soft snores coming from Halsey's chest. She closed her eyes and began to doze off. Her eyes suddenly flew open. What was that noise? A scratching sound comes from above. Was the ceiling leaking? No that can't be, it must have been a raccoon...right? Right. Shana closed her eyes. The sound stopped but it seemed to echo inside her head. She began to feel a tingling sensation on her face; the sensation felt weird and uncomfortable. It was very cold. Then the tingling sensation started to move down her nose, across her lips, and her chin.

It was hard to relax and fall asleep in a bed that wasn’t mine, in a house that felt so unfamiliar. The house was full of strange noises. I could hear the low hum of the central air, the sound of Noah moving around in the room next to mine, muffled traffic outside, and even a dog barking in the distance. On top of all that, the bedding smelled weird, like an overpowering floral fabric softener and the blankets were too light to help me feel calm. I used to have a weighted blanket, but it got lost during one of our many moves. All these little annoyances felt like they were scratching at my nerves. I grabbed my phone and opened my white-noise playlist. I picked the track with Tibetan singing

Richard shakes his head and then faces me, “Alright, let’s get this nose pointing the right way,” he says, walking over and holding my head steady, placing his thumbs on each side of my nose. “So we counting down or– ” a loud groan of pain cuts off what I was about to say as Richard swiftly readjusts my nose, and right away I can breathe easily through my nostrils again. You never know how much you miss that feeling until it’s gone.

There was white stuff on the toilet cistern. He looked around, there was no one around. He searched for any hidden camera, but there was none. He slowly brought a small knife out of his pocket and took about fifteen milligrams and stuffed it in his nose. He was shocked he just inhaled face powder mixed with white pepper. He cleaned himself up quickly, walked back to the hall, and continued sneezing. Parker signaled the music to stop. They all fixed their eyes on the guy and wondered why he was sneezing continuously.

"Now say that again." After hearing the reverberation of her voice, I looked in the direction it was coming from and saw her perched on a limb of the tree. When did she ascend such a tall tree? Wow! On the other hand, that wailing seemed rather strange. "Did I hear you howling not too long ago?" I asked in disbelief. She creased her brows thoughtfully. "I can howl too?" I cocked my head to the side and quickly nodded in agreement. "Of course you can. Try not forcing any words out of your mouth and take a deep breath. Avoid making a noise with your throat. Try to project your voice and use your nose."

I swipe at my something stinging my left eye and realize I'm bleeding. I hear squealing tires just before the sound of an enormous impact, steel tearing, glass shattering, followed by an eerie silence. Closer to the source of the noise, I can pick out the tick-tick-tick of the engine cooling in the January air, the hiss of steam from the radiator.

Those contractions transmitted to his ears like a low-frequency vibration. Her breathing became increasingly rapid, with shorter intervals between each breath.
