Hunter POV It took us eight days. Eight days of following Molly's maps. Eight days of crossing worlds that had nothing to do with ours. Eight days of hoping each green and yellow tunnel would finally be the right one. On the morning of the ninth day... We found it. The moment we stepped into the mouth of the cave, I felt it. The air. The smell. Decay. Blood. Chemicals. I immediately grabbed Molly's arm. "Wait." She nodded silently.

He tightened his grip even harder. “Crack.” It was the sound of a crushed throat. Sophia’s body jerked violently. Her eyes bulged, gray rat fur still clinging to the corner of her mouth, then her hand fell limp. Lorenzo clutched his ruined eye, gasping for air. The remaining eye held no remorse, only the wild relief and madness of survival. He shoved the corpse aside, dropped to his knees in the filthy water, and roared at the camera. “I won! Water! Give me water!”

The logging trail ends abruptly at the mouth of a limestone cavern system. Kaleb maneuvers the truck into the cave mouth. The headlights flick back on, illuminating jagged stalactites and walls of damp gray stone. "Out," Kaleb says, opening his door. "We need to cover the entrance." The air in the cave is cool and smells of mineral dust. Hollen climbs out of the back. He looks green. He stumbles, bracing himself against the tire. "I need to get away from it," he gasps. "It feels like it’s eating my soul."

They ventured into the cavern, the blue light intensifying with each step. The cavern was vast and eerily silent, devoid of the bioluminescent fungi that had illuminated their previous path. Smooth, obsidian walls reflected the cerulean glow, creating an unsettling sense of distortion. As they ventured deeper, the air grew colder, and a faint hum vibrated through the stone, resonating in their bones. Suddenly, the cavern floor gave way beneath them. Evie yelped, falling through the darkness. Liam's hand slipped from her grasp, a muffled cry escaping his lips. The fall felt like an eternity, the blue light above shrinking to a distant pinprick.

I can barely seen anything. Lance can though. So, I hold onto his hand and follow him through the darkness that stretches on. Until finally, a soft glow radiates through the black up ahead. We continue until we reach a breathtaking cavern. It looks like fireflies are embedded in the ceiling, flashing light onto the rock below. A blanket has already been laid on the smooth rock, with two glasses, a bottle of champagne, and a picnic basket of food waiting on it. A bouquet of red roses lay nearby. Soothing music echoes through the cavern.

He could only tell his Beta was behind him, due to the heat emanating from him in the cold cave. Lino’s sight shifted, adjusting to the darkness, and he noted the tiny creatures crawling along the walls and hiding within crevices. His eyes snagged on the crevice a moment too long and he saw the crack by his feet a little too late. The ground underneath his feet gave and down he went, tumbling into rocks as he fell. Kayden yelled after him, but his voice was soon lost to the sound of falling stone. He landed with a loud thud and groaned as a stone jutted through his back.

Hannah murmured, “it must have been terrible.” “Yes, well, it’s over now. We won, the evil guy lost, and all will be right with the world when we get your mother back,” Michael replied tersely. “So, what do you have for us, Gabriel? How do we get to that abandoned mine?” “Well, if you look at this map, it looks like there’s an abandoned mine at the base of this mountain here,” he explained, pointing to an area he had enlarged. “It’s part of the Goldfield Mountains, right next to the Superstitions. From the looks of it, I figure that’s exactly where the entrance is. But Hannah, you mentioned something about a cave-in?”

Earlier when she was exploring the tomb with the entire group and they all had reached a very peculiar room in the tomb. Everything was fine, they were hunting some easy beasts until a giant spider attacked them out of nowhere. Even with his giant frame, the spider wasn't that much of a danger to the group. But the situation turned grim suddenly when it pushed Jia inside a large dark hole in the ground. The spider attacked her she lost her balance and fell inside.

I don’t know how he can make me want to laugh even in this sort of situation. Getting past the waterfall is easier than I thought. There is a large gap behind the sheet of water that is only visible if you stand at a certain angle. We manage to climb up and then behind it. “There’s nothing but a cave here,” Robert mutters, running his hands over the surface. However, I know exactly where to look. Moving forward, I take two steps to the right and touch a piece of the stone. “Here. I can’t see properly in the dark. What do you see?”
