The ceiling above us groaned, and a deafening crash echoed through the catacombs. The tunnel was caving in. “Watch out!” Phoebe screamed, but it was too late. The walls shook violently as chunks of stone and debris fell from above. Chris staggered, trying to shield me as best he could, but the dust and rocks cascaded down, blinding us. I heard Phoebe cry out—a sound that sent a jolt of panic through me. My head snapped toward her just in time to see a massive chunk of rubble slam down, pinning her to the ground.
