He didn’t sound amused anymore. “Legend says a Velari who bonds with a vampire becomes immortal. Ageless. "We know you have it, and we want it back." Amanda hesitated for a moment, then spoke again. "What do you want with it?" The vampire laughed. "We want to use its power to rule the city. With its secrets, we can control everything and everyone."

I folded my hands across my chest and frowned at him in both confusion and annoyance. "Stop-just-" Alex huffed in frustration before covering his face with his hands and letting out a sigh in exasperation. I was about to say something else too but stopped when I heard a few girls groan and my eyes snapped towards the crowd.
