Hothouse Flower Novels & Stories

The garden pavilion at the Hawthorne estate in Bedford was always kept at a suffocatingly precise seventy-two degrees. It smelled of damp peat moss, distilled water, and the faint, chemically sweet preservative sprayed on the white orchids Catherine Hawthorne had spent the last two decades tending. It was a beautiful, glass-enclosed cage, completely isolated from the brutal wind off the Hudson and the corporate warfare currently consuming Manhattan.

He places his hand somewhere and the walls open up I brace myself and I get ready to attack or to dodge whatever attack. He can’t outsmart me. As soon as the door opens up completely I relax when I see what’s in front of me. It’s nothing to be defensive about if anything whatever is in front of me is so beautiful. “Whoa.” I mutter looking around me as I follow him inside. It’s a green house filled with beautiful flowers. Orchids, lillies, hydrangeas, begonias, anthuriums, gerberas, and my favourite, roses.

I breathe, carefully taking them with both hands. His smile is soft, proud. “I hoped you’d like them. I grow them in the greenhouses the witches maintain. They're called hellebores. That one’s Fire and Ice, and the other’s Onyx Odyssey. I figured you’d want something different—something no other guy’s ever given you.” I grab a vase from the cabinet, fill it with water, and place the flowers inside. Then I turn, walk up to him, cup his face in both hands—and kiss the hell out of him.

I grinned at him " You know me so well." "Just tell me why you're here so I can help you out, I need to get back to work.". He said "You're so impatient." I said, chuckling loudly. A small patch of flowers at the rear end of the greenhouse caught my attention and I moved to get a closer look. It was a rich dark maroon and had velvety rounded petals and dark brown centers. "That's the Chocolate cosmos. It's quite rare and has a chocolaty- Vanilla fragrance. It'll be perfect for a gift. " Cam's voice rang out from behind me, I didn't realize he had followed me.

"Miren, I know you are probably under the impression that if you can successfully enrage me, then you will be able to get what you want, but you are wrong. I will not, under any circumstances, let go of your hand. Miren was the only person in the lilac greenhouse where she was sitting. In this place, there was neither wind nor the song of birds; rather, there was just a stand of tall, solitary lilac trees. The tops of the branches are covered in a stunning curtain of purple flowers that hang in long strips and form a curtain-like formation. The color is pristine and alluring, and it stands for an everlasting love combined with the desire to spend the rest of one's life by the side of the per

“I’ve already decided on the land to reclaim. It’s not far from Cloudy Hills Estate and suitable for planting Grand Duke of Tuscany Jasmines and crab cactuses. “I’ll also be planting black peonies and Arabian Jasmines. Those are the varieties I’ll be focused on.” Eva became more talkative at the mention of flowers. Crab cactuses and Arabian Jasmines might be high-end flowers, but they were considered ordinary among the high-end varieties. The most difficult to plant were the Grand Duke of Tuscany Jasmines and the black peonies. After that, it was the Lady Slipper Orchid. These flowers were the top tier of high-end flowers, the most exquisite among the exquisite. It was extremely difficult to
