I fight the tears that threaten to fall, grabbing a book and sitting on the bed with the bedside lamp on. I’ll just catch up on my reading.
I’ve read the same paragraph over and over, the words refusing to register in my mind, before I toss the book aside and turn off the light. As I lay in the dark, I can’t stop the tears from coming.
‘You’re not alone,’ Minka says quietly in my mind.
‘I know, it’s just…’
