I sat on my bed and leaned on the headboard before taking a deep breath. I wasn’t being delusional. I saw it, I saw that his eyes turned red for a second. I just shook my head and tried to get it out of my head. I got the book that I borrowed from the library. I remembered that this book was from Zion, the one he said I’ll like. The main character was a female vampire who had just gotten off of her transition. I’ve read some pages and I stopped when I realized something. Some of the information was familiar to me. I went back to the other pages to read it again.

I almost felt bad that the knife I kept under my pillow was of little use. Even as I read through the pages, I couldn't find anything about vampires being psychic. Apart from having incredible strength, speed, and immortality, they seemed just like any other person. Well, except that they disliked sunlight—but even that was something they were adapting to. I closed the book and put it away. my stomach grumbled slightly, reminding me that I haven't eaten, but I didn't want to go downstairs either, in fear that I would run into Silas. I lay on her bed, staring up at the ceiling. Eventually, I grew drowsy and then fell asleep.
