DARRAGH’S POV I remembered dying. The witch's eyes had gone black right before everything ended. I'd paid her for information about Ronan O'Donoghue's crimes: the concealed murders of Ciara O'Callahan and her parents. I was going to expose him, bring him to justice. Then darkness came. Now I stood here. Same gathering. Same drink in my hand. Same faces all around me. Hell. This had to be my personal hell.

Eris and Faro looked confused at being summoned so early on a Saturday morning. Gage looked undisturbed and Hunter was pissed off. “Please forgive Detective Sullivan. The kid who died was only sixteen. He overdosed on some weird drug that literally melted his insides. He was found in an alley two blocks away. Had a lighter with the Thorn Club's logo and something that might have been the club's stamp on his wrist.” The detective opened his briefcase and pulled out a photo. He placed it on the coffee table and slid it toward me. It was a picture of the victim. Rowan and I looked at it before exchanging meaningful looks. My stomach roiled. We knew that kid, not from the club, though. His name was Connor Rollins, the son of Jerome and Monique Rollins. Calvin Rollins's younger brother.

“Hugh, I thought we had an agreement?” Alan asked the moment Hugh picked his call. They were currently still in Roy’s office. “And I remember telling you I was impatient.” Hugh calmly replied. How can he be so calm after killing two innocent lives, Alan wondered. “Those people were innocent. They did nothing to deserve death.” “Well, uncle…” Hugh mocked. “You can’t blame me.
