My body was trashing but other than that, nothing registered but my blood and internal organs being roasted. Pain. I did all this to get the mother of all pain? I was a complete and utter idiot. Idiot. Idiot. idiot. I chanted until the world and Nana Brooke’s fury disappeared.

Numb to the pain and heartache taking over my body. The most terrifying emotion a person can feel is absolutely nothing. Feeling nothing means you simply don't care anymore. You don't care about yourself and that is more dangerous than someone holding a gun at your temple, ready to shoot. You feel no fear, no anger, no pain. I slump backwards against the tiles, my eyes staring straight ahead in a daze. I don't know how long I remain like that. I don't know whether it's minutes, hours or days. Eventually my eyes flicker shut and I see darkness. I fall into a sleep, feeling absolutely nothing.

His apathy just enraged me more. A sob tore from my chest. “I can’t do anything…I can barely walk. I can't keep a job, I can't go out to have fun like a normal person... I don't get any enjoyment from life, because it never ever stops hurting. It couldn’t be normal to feel like this. My mates, my wonderful men were stood there talking… FUCKING TALKING while I’m suffering. “Just- just,” I pant heavily, wearily, “put. The. Fire. Out. Now.” I felt alive but weak, a live wire but suffering all at once. It was a heady yet tormenting mix and I couldn’t control my body nor my mouth. “Just fucking do it already! SHUT UP AND DO SOMETHING!” I was becoming impatient. I couldn’t concentrate on what Dec or Deac were saying. All I could think of, feel, see was the excruciating pain seeping through my veins.

SLADE Pain. The kind of pain that made it hard for me to breath. Pain that made my heart throb, It felt like a hot knife slicing nonstop through my skin. I’d never felt anything like it. Of all the blows life has dealt me in the past, this has to be the worst, and trust me, I’ve had to deal with a lot of things throughout my lifetime. My mistakes have come back to haunt me in the worst way possible.

“I don’t want to see you in pain.” “I won’t, honey,” I say, drinking the water she gave me. “Trust me, I will be fine.” “Okay, but I still insist that you take things easy.” “Sure, I will. Let’s go.” After saying goodbye to her, I enter my room and undress to take a bath. Suddenly, sharp pains shoot through my body, like a thousand needles piercing my skin. The sensation radiates from my core to every limb, causing my muscles to contract uncontrollably. Gasping for breath, I cling to the sink, trying to stay upright as the intensity of the pain reaches a peak, blurring my vision.

I was done with the pain. All of it. Never again.

he whispers under his breath. Goosebumps cover my body. “I'm not that breakable!” His brows lift in surprise, a small smirk on the corner of his eyes. “Oh yeah? What do you know about pain?” he asks. I clear my throat. “I know I have a pretty high tolerance of it. I've been screwed around my entire life so you could say I've developed a high tolerance for it!” He smiles approvingly. “Good, that's good, because I derive pleasure in pain. You could call me a sadist-masochist.”

Kiara’s POV Pain. Red hot pain flared all round my body, and to say I hated the experience had to be the biggest understatement of the year. It was the first thing I felt, thick and overwhelming, pulling me under like waves that wouldn’t stop crashing. My limbs felt like lead, and like that wasn't enough pain for me, it felt like I'd been stitched together by something heavy and raw, something that wasn't even meant to be anywhere near my body at all.
