I started to pay attention in the direction that I heard the sound. “Hello?” I ask loudly. “There’s anybody here?” I ask once again, loudly. As I’m about to return to my books thinking it could just be my imagination when I notice a petite girl hiding behind one of the bookshelves, it seems that she’s afraid of me?. “Hey! That’s okay, I won’t hurt you.” I try to reason with her. “My name is Pandora, what’s yours?” I ask her with a sweet smile. “I’m Penny” Her answer came off like a whisper.

I lunged for the book, tucking it under my arm, and ran straight for the exit. "Aliyah!" I heard my name being called from the darkness above. It was Skylar.

Then, she was gasping for breath, drowning, peacefully again, till she was rudely pulled out of the water again. She opened her eyes with a gasp, but it was still dark and she was alone. The darkness was so thick that she could not even see her own hands when she waved them in front of her eyes. “Where am I?” She whispered and then she heard it. Softly, at first but she heard her name. Someone was calling her name. “Hadassah!” the voice called again. She managed to stand up and started walking in the direction of where the voice was coming from.

Like an echo. Like a call being answered. I press my hand against the scar and feel it pulse with warmth that has nothing to do with my own body temperature. And then I hear it, carried on a wind that shouldn’t exist, a voice that shouldn’t reach me across the miles between the deep woods and whatever safe house she’s hiding in. Soft. Uncertain. Tinged with fear and longing and something that might be acceptance. My name. Not her name, which I somehow know without ever having heard it spoken. *Ivy.* The knowledge sits in my mind like it was always supposed to be there.

The scene of my brutal death in my previous life felt as vivid as ever. Just then, I received a call from my sister, Emma Anderson. The moment I answered, her anxious yet irritated voice blasted through the phone. "Anna, what are you dawdling for? Why aren't you here yet? Do you want me to freeze to death? Hurry up and get over here to open the door for me!" As I listened to Emma's arrogant remarks, the hatred in my chest nearly overflowed. I forced down my resentment and brushed her off. "I'm already at the entrance. I'll be right there."

I smiled mechanically, my mind, my very soul, searching for another she-wolf. And then I saw her. Juliet. Alone in a corner. My first thought was an automatic sneer: Pathetic. But then my heart—the treacherous bastard—leaped in my chest. A possessive rage, primal and absolute, roared through my veins. Mine. After all these years, she was finally here. But she looked so… alone. Hearing the whispers mock her, a flash of white-hot rage burned through me. How dare they? Only I am allowed to break her.

I turned and I saw no one. Then I bent to flip the pages of one of the books around me. Somehow everything here soothened me. It felt like home, where I belong. From a distance, I heard a girl’s voice. “Gemi…” The voice seemed to be following me. “Stephanie!” I called her out. “Gemi…” “Steph,” Then there was darkness again. *** “Baby! Please come back!” I heard that voice again. I was back in the paradise, with a pile of books stuck in front of me. I looked at the alluring peaceful place.

My own speed was rapidly approaching hers. "Do you want me to play with your nipples while you cream?" I gasped. "Oh yes David, anything you want, I'm going to put a finger in now." I heard the sound of her finger moving in and out as she cried, "Can you hear how wet I am? Please touch me just a little so I can come in front of you" I got to my feet and started to walk over to her when the telephone rang. I glanced at the glowing phone and the caller ID told me that this was an important call. I picked it up.
