Dylan circled Ethan, then took out a diamond ring and handed it to me.
“Lydia, come back to me. I’ve prepared your wedding dress and this ring. Let’s get married right away.”
He spoke so earnestly, so gently, that for a moment, I almost believed the Dylan who had grown tired of me was just a bad dream.
“But it’s too late, Dylan,” I said tersely. “A shattered heart can’t be pieced back together.”
“We’ve already broken up. Give it to Sarah or Lisa instead.”
“I know you’re still mad at me. I’m really sorry. This time, I’m serious. Let’s get married. I promise to spend the rest of my life making it up to you.”
