Breathe!” I stood up from my bed, rushed towards the window, trying so hard to fight back tears. “I…think it was a bad idea asking you to spend the night here. I want to be alone.” He stood behind me, and I could imagine the confused look on his face. “Why? Did I say something wrong?” I sniffed, wiping off the stubborn tear that’d found it’s way down my cheek. “I just wanna be alone.”

Isadora’s POV The toast was cold by the time I picked it up. Darren hadn’t touched his coffee. His phone buzzed twice before he silenced it without looking. “I had a dream last night,” I said softly. He didn’t look up. “What about?” “That we were dancing. Just you and me. In an empty room. No one watching. No war. No mines. No mayor.” He finally raised his eyes, weary but gentle. “That sounds nice.” “I woke up before it ended.” A faint smile touched his lips. “Then we’ll just have to live long enough to finish it.”

His scrunched up face had me more furious. "What are you talking about? Who told you that?" He asked with furrowed brows. "I. Ugh No one told me. I saw it." I exclaimed. "Now let me go." I demanded. "You saw me cheating on you in your dream and now you are taking it out on me?" He asked with a raised brow. "No.. ugh last night. I saw it." I cried.

The moon should be full tonight, but the cloud cover is thick and hides it from me. I wonder if my dad can see me from there? What would he think of me? How I almost gave up last month... I sighed. Then I woke up and it was morning, and you weren’t there at all.’ I hesitated, editing out the nightmare’s darker details. No point mentioning blood or fear when he was so far away.

He cupped my face in his palms and asked, "Do you see me in your dreams? Do I look different?" "Yes, I saw you three times so far, and you looked different in one of them. You had darker hair and eyes. I had a baby in that dream, a baby with someone else but you probably killed that man." "I had that dream too. You looked the same in all my dreams, with really dark hair. Except for one dream that I recently had. I saw you with blonde hair like how you look now but wearing something funny on your face that was made out of glass. We were in the future."

Marita spoke in a soft voice, breaking through my thoughts. "Who is Sue?" I blurted out almost immediately, not knowing how to present my thoughts. She studied me for an uncomfortable while before speaking. "Where did you hear that name?" "I saw her, in my dream, just now. She gave me a thorn of roses." "She was in your dream?" "Yes." I went ahead to explain the dream, leaving nothing out. She was quiet for a while, deep in thought. "I'm sorry, can you please put on some clothes?"

"I'm okay." "You don't sound okay." "It's just this white lady I saw last night; she's the one tormenting me until dawn," Angela admitted. Leonardo remained silent, as if deep in thought. "You haven't seen her face yet?" "No, "Angela sighed heavily. "Is this your first time seeing her? I mean, you see her in this house only. " "Yeah," she said, smiling. "Perhaps she's just a ghost out to scare me," she shrugged, adding, "Or perhaps it's just a fragment of my imagination." She laughed.
