I replied, moving away. “Ok!” he mumbled and drank it. “Read this for me while I sleep.” I said, giving him my book and settled my head on his lap. “Are you serious?” he asked, looking at me. “Shh... now read that calmly.” I replied closing my eyes. “Mom!” Ayesha said and I opened my eyes to see her standing before us. “What happened?” I asked her. “Read this for me.” She replied, showing me her book.

Hello guys, CodeyVanilla here. It's nice being here with y'all. I want to thank each and everyone of you, for being a part of this journey with me. You guys made a dream come true. How I started this story is actually really surprising, I'm no professional and this is my actual first book. I know it's a bit weird when you first start but I promise you it gets better as you continue. I apologize for the grammatical typos and errors, I'll edit as time goes on.

Without them, the book club would be nothing and I'll be nothing. I cleared my throat. “Hey, everyone… Can we pause whatever we are doing and come closer?” They looked up, weary but smiling as they all moved closer to the podium. I had planned to write an email later, but standing there in the fading light, I couldn’t let the day end without saying this aloud. “First,” I said, “Take a seat, it's going to be a long night.” Their eyebrows lifted, April tilted her head, flashing me a sideways look.

I let out a relieved sigh and as I was going to go back in, I noticed something was on the ground. It was a really big book titled "Top Colleges and Universities in the USA". I remembered Blake said it once, that he was going to show this book to me and help me find the colleges that I might be interested in. I picked up the book and noted how heavy it was. There must be at least a thousand pages in there. I opened the first page, and there was a post-it note stuck on it: "I've highlighted all the places that I thought you might like. Hope that might help you with your search. —B"

London As soon as I got home, I took off my clothes and dug out my ancient laptop. It was in dire need of retirement, but I hadn't been able to save up to buy a new one. It was in my permanent budget list, but everyday, something else came up and it went further down the list. I didn't dwell on that thought too long though. I had a book to write. An exciting story, the sort of stuff I had always dreamed about writing. That wouldn't leave me a miserable mess while I tried to clang at the engines in my brain for even the least hundred words.

I didn’t want to hear more. My mind was set. I walked past her, down the hallway, and out of the house that had never felt like home. I booked a hotel, something quiet, tucked away in the city. Once inside the room, I locked the door and pulled out my phone. I didn’t need a visa. I already had one. Months ago, Anton and I had planned a trip—one that never happened. However, the visa remained valid for another year. Back then, I had thought we’d travel together, maybe start a new chapter of our lives. Ironic how now, I was using it to run.
