I froze mid-step, my gaze locking with his, his expression was serious, and I could tell this wasn't something I could dodge.
“Understood," I replied curtly before continuing to the kitchen.
Once there, I surveyed the options: Sandwiches, roasted potatoes, and chicken salad. Opting for the chicken salad, I grabbed a plate, drizzled some dressing over it, and settled onto a stool on the kitchen island.
I was halfway through my meal when Andrei walked in, the air seemed to shift immediately.
He was dressed casually today, in a grey shirt, and black jeans, and the sight of him almost made me choke on a bite of salad. He paused when he saw me, his expression unreadable.
