Hana stepped closer to the gate and pushed her hand, the door making a creaky sound and quickly opening. The white brick road leading into the castle is immaculate. Hana stood in front of the large white gate for a moment before pushing open the door. The inside was filled with boxes scattered all over the place. Hana curiously walked over to open the box closest to the door, which was empty inside. Hana surveyed the large room and decided to open all the boxes.

The huge room, almost as big a space as the Black Hall, was an echoing grey tomb, Along the furthest wall were the three metal doors, each with an alpha-numerical keypad and a huge ships-wheel for turning. Those bastard safes. The bane of Declan’s life as they mocked his failure to feed and protect us. They sported even more damage from whatever sledgehammer or axe he had found. He had taken a serious amount of frustration out on these metal barriers.

Long, leaf covered vines strung the expanse of at least two thirds of the entire building. A large wooden sign that read ‘TwentyOne’ in large Old English lettering that was burned into the wood, hung off a set of chains that were centered across the top peak above the door. The door itself looked to be oak, and it was completely solid. There was a large iron knocker in the center of the door that looked like a Griffin.

Survive. The back door clicks shut. The house goes quiet in that eerie, vacuum-sealed way that only happens right before violence. I take a breath I don’t feel. Then I step forward. The metal security door rattles as I unlock it. Thick bars. Reinforced hinges. We installed it years ago because Hour insisted. Because he’d grown up knowing doors were never just doors. Behind it is the front door—also metal. Cold. Heavy. No decorative glass. No welcome mat energy. Just function. I open the security door. The second I touch the handle of the front door, it slams inward.

Zack replied without sparing her glance. They descended a set of stairs before coming face to face with two huge doors. They were trimmed with gold, from the sides even its doorknobs. Right in the middle was a golden head of a wolf with a pair of purple eyes seemingly made of precious gems. Zack opened it halfway and motioned Castellana to enter.

I felt a tightening between my legs and my pants began to bulge at the zipper. We pulled to a stop in front of the Iceclaw Packhouse. It was simple and functional, made from ancient stone and brick with moss and ivy covering it in spaces. It had a couple turrets on either side of the entry and extended to the left and right, in what I supposed led to various wings. The front door was an arched double door with a wrought iron handle. On either side of the door were white triangular banners with the Iceclaw crest in gold. The Luna and her in-laws were waiting for our delegation’s arrival at the bottom of the entryway steps. Several others stood on the first row of steps behind them.

On the center of the door was a symbol: A wolf swallowing the sun. And beneath it, etched in laser-cut letters: FENRIS - POLAR OUTPOST ONE RESTRICTED ACCESS: ALPHA CLEARANCE ONLY "We found it," Jack whispered, staring at the gate. "The front door." "Great," Ben said, looking at the smooth metal surface. "No keyhole. No keypad. No doorbell. How do we get in? Knock?" "We don't knock," Jack said, his eyes hard. "We ring the bell." Suddenly, the ground shook.

After Hayley led everyone into the stairwell, she immediately locked the door from the inside. As they started climbing up, loud banging echoed from below, zombies slamming into the door nonstop. The zombies that had followed them from the drugstore screeched nonstop, throwing themselves against the door. This door was way sturdier than the aluminum one at the drugstore. It was a proper fire-rated safety door. The heavy thudding of zombies crashing into it made everyone's hearts race, and they instinctively stuck even closer to Hayley.

"How?" She walked forward before I could stop her. "Excuse me," she said. "I'm lost." The guard turned. "Kids aren't allowed in this section. Who let you—" He recognized her. His hand went to his radio. Wren kicked him in the knee. He buckled. I was there a second later. Three more bodies. We were leaving a trail. --- The blast door was huge. Ten feet tall. Made of steel. A red light glowed above the handle — locked.

Marissa stood about 10 feet away from me as she tried to grab a couple of them. "KIDS! FOLLOW ME AND THE LUNA NOW!" I yelled picking up 2 of the smallest. Marissa pushed more kids in my direction and we rushed everyone downstairs. She entered the passcode to the big steel door. The huge silver door moved to the side with the sounds of air being passed through the room. As soon as all of us were in, Marissa put in the code on another wall pieces and the door closed quickly and locked tight. The sound of the metal groaned against each other as it locked it tight.
