How’s that?” I asked him with a smile that made him groan and his forehead creased in anger.

He barks out a harsh laugh. "Nicole??? Nicole??? Really? I would have thought you'd have gone for a little more dramatic name. Nicole is sooo....". He shakes his head in disapproval. "....so bland. I expected better from you?". My spine stiffens with his insults but I mentally reassure myself to let everything bounce off me. "My name.....is Nicole. Call me Nicole".
