She could not focus on the meeting at all. "Excuse me for a minute. I need to get some water.", She said as she stood knowing she could just walk out and no one would stop her. She walked out of the room and went to walk to clear her head. She reached the doors for the other meeting in place and could hear a deep voice. "No.," Mike said. "That is it, guys. No more. I could care less about what you all think of me for spending the night with a beautiful woman who happens to be intelligent, but I do care what you think of her."

I didn’t drown. A split second before the air was sucked out of me, a guard saved me. However, all he did was haul me onto the riverbank and dump me onto the ground. I coughed violently, gasping for air in the pitch-black darkness, my hands trembling as I reached out carefully to feel my surroundings. “Shawn?” No one answered. The only things I could hear were panicked footsteps in the distance, followed by his frantic roar. “Butler! Get a doctor here, now! Ava, wake up! Keep your eyes open. Look at me!”

Not a roar—just a warning. “Time to go,” I said, grabbing her hand and pushing Sadira forward. “Into the pool. Now!” I kicked a loose rock toward the black creature, distracting it for a moment. As it shifted, we reached the pool’s edge. The water stole our body heat instantly—I felt the shock like ice stabbing through me. “Don’t stay on the surface!” I ordered. “Go deeper!” I pulled Sadira into the depths. The water swallowed all sound, our vision reduced almost to nothing. Only the pulse of blue light from the bottom gave us the faintest direction.

“How could you possibly get that from this?” Dammit! Why was I so unlucky this evening? Not only was I going to die, but I was also going to be mocked by this tall, dark, and handsome drink of water. Or… wait… Could this be the opportunity that I need to escape? “Please,” I continue, grasping at any chance I could to live. “Please help me.” At my words, the man’s gaze comes to rest on mine, and I feel like I’m being sucked into it. It’s the strangest sensation, but I don’t have the time to really think too hard on what is happening.

The water looked so refreshing and I couldn’t help myself wanting to take a swim in the summer heat today. Slowly, I walked into the water and dove down under its surface as I got to the deeper area. I never realized how peaceful it was under the water as it made every sound around me disappear and left my mind free of everything around me. When I came back to the surface, I could hear sounds of a wolf approaching and I quickly began to swim towards the waterfall and dove down under it like Beta Shawn showed me that first time we were together.
