I, too, stopped what I was doing and stared back at him. “Are you serious? In that case, are you trying to tell me to stay?”. He asked me, and the bright look on his face did it. "Do you hear yourself?" she continued, voice sharp. "You sound like a walking expired coupon." A few of the gang members choked, trying not to laugh. The leader blinked— Then suddenly burst out laughing. "Hahaha!" Instead of getting angry, he seemed even more entertained. "Sharp tongue," he said, clearly amused. "I like that even more."

However, then he did something I never expected. He laughed. I could hardly believe that he was laughing at me. She looked up at me and she was smiling. I sat down beside her on the floor. We looked at each other for one second and then we both started laughing. The kind of laughing that had nothing to do with anything being funny and everything to do with still being alive and not knowing what else to do with that. "I cannot believe you threw that."
