(Her POV) The first thing I noticed was the quiet. Not the lonely kind the kind that presses against your ears and reminds you of everything that’s missing. This quiet was softer. Like a pause. Like a breath held gently instead of tightly. I was sitting on the steps outside the campus library, my notebook open on my lap, pen resting between my fingers without moving. For once, my mind wasn’t racing ahead to the next worry, the next possible fracture in something I loved.

The clinic always felt too quiet in the mornings, as if silence seeped down from the ceiling tiles and settled over everything. Lola Smith could hear the hum of the lights, the slow whir of the automatic doors, even the soft scrape of her own shoes across the polished floor. She didn’t mind the quiet, not really. But on certain days, when her thoughts were too loud, she wished for more noise—anything to drown out the feeling that her life was idling in neutral.

We were in our pajamas, in the middle of the night, two people who swore they wanted nothing to do with each other, sharing the absolute quiet of a tropical island on the other side of the world. It was the most peaceful, most intimate shit we’d ever shared. There were no boundaries to push, no agendas to follow. We were just two shipwrecked people, sharing a space and a fragile, desperate loneliness. I finally closed my book, the heavy leather cover making a soft thud. "It's quiet, hey?" I asked, needing to break the spell. "Too quiet," he murmured, still not looking up from his book. "It makes you think about all the things you spend your life trying not to think about."

It was one of the few places I’d discovered that didn’t blast music or smell like overworked teenagers. It was quiet. Comfortable. The perfect place to catch up on assignments. So on top of my normal duties I'm doing the work of three more people which has led to mistakes being made and has caused some small, silent break downs. With all of this going on and issues I'm having with this app and my "editor" still I have decided to not continue writing at all. It truly is with a heavy heart that I say this to you because writing used to bring me so much joy but now it just feels like another chore that I'm being bogged down with. I know there are authors who go through things like this and just abandon the stories they are currently writing which isn't fair to the readers. That is why I'm writing all of this to explain so you hopefully understand why I have decided to
