I could see the way his eyes squinted with confusion, but I knew what I wanted at that moment. I wanted him right beneath me.

Only at this time, I didn't know this was just the beginning of an unending battle. Perhaps it would be best if I started from the beginning and what had led up to this very moment.

We started at each other for minutes, the moment felt magical. My heart beat a frantic rythym against my chest and I knew at that moment, that I was a goner.

Only him. Because somehow… Out of everything in this moment... He was still the most beautiful part of it. And as we walked closer, step by step, my heart steadied. Not because I wasn’t overwhelmed anymore… But because I knew exactly where I was going. To him.

Whatever was beneath this place, whatever my mother had brought me here for, it wasn’t waiting anymore. It had found me. And in that moment, I understood something that settled deep into my bones with quiet certainty. This wasn’t the beginning. It was the point everything had been leading toward. And there was no stepping back from it now.

"We both know what’s really going on. And we both know where this is heading." The world seemed to narrow, the air growing thinner and thinner until it felt like I couldn’t catch my breath.
